Ahhhhhhh! It was so great to see meaningful baseball again, even if I had to watch it from afar on TV. And what made it even sweeter was not only the 5-0 win, but the fact it came against the Giants. And let me just add that Barry Zito looked horrible and the Giants offense looked even worse! On the flip side, Brad Penny was solid. Rafael Furcal had a great game going 3 for 4 with two doubles, a run scored and an RBI. Jeff Kent was 2 for 3 with a homerun and two RBI. And James Loney had two hits. So we move on to tonight's game...
Why on earth is Juan Pierre in the friggin lineup already? I mean seriously, two days after Joe Torre said he was starting Andre Ethier, and already Kemp gets benched for Pierre? And wouldn't you know it, Pierre just hit one of his little pop flies into shallow left field for an out. Didn't we see enough of that crap last season? Please, Joe, keep the stiff on the bench! He already played himself out of a starting job in Spring Training. Anyway, tonight's game is scoreless with one out in the bottom of the fifth inning. Hopefully, Derek Lowe can keep the pathetic Giants offense from doing anything, and give the Dodger offense a chance to get him some run support (something he rarely got last season, especially in his losses).
