Back on February 16th, I posted a blog with my predictions for this year's All-Star game. One of my picks was Russell Martin as the NL catcher....
NATIONAL LEAGUE:
All-Stars:
C: Russell Martin, Los Angeles / 1B: Albert Pujols, St. Louis / 2B: Chase Utley, Philadelphia / 3B: David Wright, New York / SS: Jose Reyes, New York / OF: Alfonso Soriano, Chicago; Carlos Beltran, New York; Andruw Jones, Atlanta / SP: Brad Penny, Los Angeles
AMERICAN LEAGUE:
All-Stars:
C: Joe Mauer, Minnesota / 1B: Travis Hafner, Cleveland / 2B: Robinson Cano, New York / 3B: Alex Rodriguez, New York / SS: Derek Jeter, New York / OF: Manny Ramirez, Boston; Vernon Wells, Toronto; Vlad Guerrero, Los Angeles / SP: Johan Santana, Minnesota
Several of you laughed or thought it was ridiculous.
Morg said: wow Martin as an All Star, thats a bold prediction lol
Nat said: I have to agree with Morg on this one. Despite his indiscretions, LoDuca still seems to be quite popular among the fans (Lord knows why, he was NEVER one of my favorites!)
And I know Zach had something to say too, but his profile got deleted once again and his comments have since been removed by MySpace. Well, to all of you who doubted it, read it and weep! From MLB.com:
LOS ANGELES -- With three days left in online All-Star balloting, Russell Martin has a 213,114-vote lead over New York Met and former Dodger Paul Lo Duca at the catcher's position for the National League. Martin would become the first Canadian catcher to start an All-Star Game.
